Project Summary: Dog owners face significant challenges in ensuring their pet’s safety and well-being. Tracking a dog’s location, especially at night or in large areas, can be difficult and stressful. The Kare9 Health Harness addresses these challenges by integrating GPS tracking, vital sign sensors, an anti-bark feature, and convenient storage for trash bags. This harness provides a safer, more comfortable, and comprehensive solution for modern pet care compared to traditional collars.
Journey: Moving forward with the idea to design a multifaceted dog harness, the team began by talking to dog owners and a veterinarian to gather data for their prototype. They created specification and began work on a prototype. The team cut and sewed a harness and attached sensors. They then soldered all the sensors and circuit components to make the harness wireless and tested the prototype on 2 dogs. It worked! The team reached out to veterinarians for feedback and finalized the demo app and webpage.
