Team 7: AdapTurf

Motivation: Different sports and different surfaces require distinct pairs of specialized cleats to safely and effectively participate. These cleats tend to be expensive, forcing many athletes to wear the wrong cleats for certain sports and increasing the risk of injury. AdapTurf aims to eliminate this issue and allow anyone to play any sport on any surface with the proper cleats. The closest products to AdapTurf on the market today are screw-in cleats, but these screw directly into the shoe, creating pressure and causing discomfort. Additionally, screw-in cleats only account for changes in playing surface, not different sports.

Project Summary: Introducing AdapTurf, a system with swappable outsoles fit not only for different turfs, but also entirely different sports. The outsole is attached using a dual locking system and then fastened in with screws to ensure safety. In contrast to conventional screw-in cleats, AdapTurf replaces the entire outer sole, allowing for more weight distribution throughout the entire shoe. The dual-locking mechanism provides a secure fit without compromising comfort and performance. This mechanism is easy to use, allowing the user to switch soles on-the-go and be ready for any sport at any time. AdapTurf’s goal is to enable athletes to play different sports on different turfs safely, and without breaking the bank.
